With a tip of the biretta to Fr. Roderick, I present this great iPhone ap commercial spoof with a Catholic twist.
It was made by P. Camarata.

It looks like that guy needs to charge his iPhone… a common experience we share.

St. John Eudes
- Prosper of Aquitaine (+c.455), De gratia Dei et libero arbitrio contra Collatorem 22.61

“He [Satan] will set up a counter-Church which will be the ape of the Church because, he the devil, is the ape of God. It will have all the notes and characteristics of the Church, but in reverse and emptied of its divine content. It will be a mystical body of the anti-Christ that will in all externals resemble the mystical body of Christ. In desperate need for God, whom he nevertheless refuses to adore, modern man in his loneliness and frustration will hunger more and more for membership in a community that will give him enlargement of purpose, but at the cost of losing himself in some vague collectivity.”
“Who is going to save our Church? Not our bishops, not our priests and religious. It is up to you, the people. You have the minds, the eyes, and the ears to save the Church. Your mission is to see that your priests act like priests, your bishops act like bishops.”
- Fulton Sheen

A monthly subscription donation means I have steady income I can plan on. I put you my list of benefactors for whom I pray and for whom I often say Holy Mass.

"But if, in any layman who is indeed imbued with literature, ignorance of the Latin language, which we can truly call the 'catholic' language, indicates a certain sluggishness in his love toward the Church, how much more fitting it is that each and every cleric should be adequately practiced and skilled in that language!" - Pius XI
"Let us realize that this remark of Cicero (Brutus 37, 140) can be in a certain way referred to [young lay people]: 'It is not so much a matter of distinction to know Latin as it is disgraceful not to know it.'" - St. John Paul II
Grant unto thy Church, we beseech Thee, O merciful God, that She, being gathered together by the Holy Ghost, may be in no wise troubled by attack from her foes. O God, who by sin art offended and by penance pacified, mercifully regard the prayers of Thy people making supplication unto Thee, and turn away the scourges of Thine anger which we deserve for our sins. Almighty and Everlasting God, in whose Hand are the power and the government of every realm: look down upon and help the Christian people that the heathen nations who trust in the fierceness of their own might may be crushed by the power of thine Arm. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, Thy Son, who liveth and reigneth with Thee in the unity of the Holy Ghost, God, world without end. R. Amen.

That stuff is really neat and tempting. But I will always stick with my basic phone, I wish it didn’t get texts sometimes but… o well. My family and fiance call me an old man because of my complaints about technowledgy, I know how to use alot of the stuff I just dont have much care for it. Since I’m 20 i guess that is a real weird thing.
But I have to say this iPhone spoof is the first iPhone ad to make me actually want one.
Lighting a virtual votive candle? Does that mean you will get virtual or real help from the Saint in question! LOL!
Great video! I just sold my iphone (for $200 more than I paid for it!)I got tired of the dropped calls and constantly dead battery. I never used the apps anyway.
MargaretMN: An iphone votive candle seems just as sensible to me as the electric flicker-lamps that infest some churches nowadays.
I like to commercial, though. I might have to download the Mass/church finder app for the ipod touch.
It is pretty cool. Almost made me want an iphone–but my phone is just a phone and doesn’t even do text and it suits me just fine!
Just had to repost on FB and Twitter!!!
The clip isn’t playing on my computer, however, the Youtube link works just fine. What happened?
BTW, that’s pretty neat.
Fr. Roderick made one as well. Here’s the link if you haven’t seen this one: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ooVO_cqByMo.
Paul Camarata would make one playing up the saint apps!
If I ever get a cellphone, I suppose these things might be nice. But given how expensive cellphones and cellphone service still are, I don’t really see me upgrading to the most expensive phone in existence! LOL!
Really, what I want in a cellphone is no features except a phone, service that costs about ten bucks for unlimited for a year, no bizarre service plan I can’t figure out, absolutely nothing I will miss or have trouble replacing when the cellphone (inevitably, like all small things) gets left behind or inadvertently thrown away, rugged durability, and availability in every convenience store. Moore’s Law has let me down in these respects. Of course, given that texting, the cheapest possible service format besides Morse code, costs the earth both to sender and receiver, it’s obvious that cellphone providers have no interest in going this way. Pay as you go cards are obscenely expensive as well (I knew somebody who used up ten or twenty dollars of time in a week). Also, you can’t wear your cellphone on your wrist like Dick Tracy, so obviously it’s all in vain. :)
Maureen, look into a prepaid carrier and a cheap, used, unlocked phone bought off of ebay. And yes, I know this is a rabbit hole.
I have the ipod touch, all the glory of the Iphone, none of the dropped calls…:), I do need to download more Cath apps.
That absolutely must be the best iPhone commercial I’ve ever seen. Apple should air that one!!!!
Thanks for sharing, Father.
