Pope Leo’s Extraordinary Apostolic Visitation to Monaco today was very beautiful — and never mind that for my disabilities I could attend none of it in person.

We have a very old-fashioned Diocese smaller than most Parishes, a Catholic Monarch, Catholicism as the State Religion, and a simple attachment to the Faith — and the visit of the Holy Father in many ways was as that of a simple Bishop visiting an ordinary Parish.

OTOH it’s right after his noteworthy letter to the French Bishops, and here several of the priests, including the Vicar General, have given or are very attached to the TLM, and there is still a Diocesan TLM every Sunday evening up on the Rock.

I realised also that this Visitation in various ways was the perfect expression of Unam Sanctam, in its teaching of the Authority given by God to Prince and Pope.

Prince Albert’s open expressions of Fidelity to Holy Church and the Holy Father in the properly religious matters that he is subjected to as a Catholic should be a model for all Christian leaders to follow.
