What the Bishop of Charlotte is doing – UPDATE

UPDATE: A commentator pointed out…

The photo in that first Tweet is not from the Diocese of Charlotte, though it is related to altar rails.

Apparently, Bishop of Boise, Idaho, ordered the disuse of altar rails in 2023 and had them ripped up from the floor of the cathedral. Martin may be the most boisterous of these bishops, but he’s certainly not alone.

So more people know.

and…

He is hurting people, lots of people, and hiding behind a thin canard while doing it.

Clearly, His Excellency has forgotten his history. If memory serves, reception of Holy Communion in the hand was not originally the norm but an indult given to a few places, but quickly seized by the so-called “reformers” as a new normal for the Novus Ordo. Currently, I believe either way is considered acceptable and “normal” in the N.O.
Pray for the people of the Charlotte diocese and pray for Bishop Martin.

Interesting that the diocese of Charlotte is so well funded that it can spend money on removing altar rails just because they are superfluous.

I must, therefore, assume that every church building there has a well repaired roof, HVAC, plumbing, sewer, and sound system.

I thought these wreckoations were done with in the 80’s and 90’s! Altar railed are the faithfuls’ place in the sanctuary. Removing the rail has built a wall preventing most faithful from entering the sanctuary. The priest in that situation even comes down. Steps out of the sanctuary and blocks the faithful who present themselves from putting a knee there.
It is the height of clericalism that only a select few who are “chosen” by the priest should be able to come to the sanctuary. The readers, a few dozen “Eucharist ministers” and a cantor or two or thee. Maybe they will allow the full choir in there, but the average Catholic sitting in the pew shall not be permitted to enter!
The altar rail allows everyone a place in the sanctuary so they are able to fully and actively participate in the Holy Mass as they spend time there uniting with Our Lord and uniting with the entire Church in Holy Communion

Seems to me he is describing “mutual enrichment.” I guess this form of it is unacceptable.

Our pastor just installed altar rails just in time for Holy Week! Ashburn, Virginia.

The Liturgy must be more than the whims of the current bishop. Sanity, order, Tradition, and the good of the Church depend on it. Anyone defending cooperation with this obvious and manifest evil under the guise of “obedience” should be ashamed to show their face in public, regardless of his status or rank.

One very good reason why Church’s should be owned by the local parish and not the Diocese.

Several of our local Catholic church’s are NOT owned by the diocese. They are owned by the parish and the parish council decides what happens to the structure. There is zero chance of this happening.

IDK why Pope Francis allows this king attack on the Church to continue. I guess it shows what type of prelate one has when the priority is to destroy what precious Catholics put blood, sweat and treasure to build and make beautiful. I wonder why God thinks when he sees his shepherd’s haning his flock?

There is a very good reason why prelates face the people at their funeral and not the Lord.

I think those that are against kneeling do not believe in the Real Presence in the Eucharist. We should try to humble ourselves more before the Lord…
